Our beliefs

Our children are part of Generation Z also called the DIGITAL generation— having grown-up on iPods, text messaging, Facebook, smart phones and YouTube. They are self-directed and can process information at lightning speed. In comparison to older generations, they are born multi-taskers with strong opinions. They are smart making it possible for them to open doors we can only knock on today.

We believe that healthy body helps to develop curious mind, patience and confidence

Develop curious mind through activities:

  • discovering the senses and opportunities of your body
  • learn new activities every gym session
  • touch and feel discovery in an encouraging environment
  • seeing physical activities as expected and regular part of life

Feeling confident about physical skills:

  • having recognised achievements each time
  • having opportunities for active play with peers
  • developing a sense of belonging to a group
  • being supported in an encouraging environment

Our goals

Generation Z is also called the SILENT generation. They severely lack in areas of expression, verbal communication, confidence and interpersonal skills. For Generation Z it is more difficult for them to be good team players, where they have less regard for what others have to say. They are more individualistic, lack in listening skills and do not take suggestions well. They are losing the ability to focus, as well as analyse complex information. Our kids are impatient as they desire instant results. They lack interest in playing outdoors, resulting in a sedentary lifestyle that leads to possible obesity.

It is our responsibility as parents to help our kids be more confident, curious, patient and fit so that they will have a greater advantage within their generation in the future.

We don’t need to create a generation of elite child athletes to achieve these health benefits. The goal is simply to get kids up and moving, and keep them moving. Little changes can make a big difference!

Physical Activities

pl_philosophy_img_2Nowadays in Poland only one-third of children get the recommended levels of physical activity. Our kids practice less running, biking or walking to school. We experience drastic change of kids’ time from moving to sitting behind TV, computers, video games, cell phones, etc. (8 to 18-year kids spend an average of 7.5 hours a day using entertainment media). Poland ranked 34th country worldwide for teenage who practice sports but when it comes to time spent at the computer, Poland took the sad first position.

We have to find a way to compete with all these gadgets and propose to our kids some joyful alternatives in physical activities. It is proven that regular physical exercises do not only develop the body but social skills and mind of our kids. This believes is in the essence of our GYM Generation mission.

Our kids will develop skills on the uneven parallel bars, balance beam, and floor exercise. Our recreational gymnastics program is designed to introduce children to basic gymnastics positions and skills while developing coordination, strength and flexibility — all in a positive, highly active and fun learning environment.

Kids are never tested against national standards or each other. Our directive is to develop the child, not in reference to a random standard but in relation to themselves. THAT is the only measure that counts.

Nutrition

pl_philosophy_img_3As a society there is currently a large increase in unhealthy snacking. In many families, unfortunately, home-made cooking is decreasing. We consume more then is required of meat, fats and sugar (56% more fats and oils and 14% more sugars). Overconsumption of sweet drinks is becoming a real issue. Kids severely lack their daily fruits and veggies (less than 1 portion instead of 5 recommended daily). Portion sizes have exploded two to five times vs. last years in that results in an additional 200 calories a day.

Our true belief is that in order to have healthy body development, you require both physical exercises and good nutrition.

5 essentials of a healthy kid’s development:

Water is essential. There is no better drink then just water for your kid. Love water! Drink a lot of water yourself in front of the kids. Make water always available. Ensure your kids drink enough and several times during the day, at least 8 times per day. Remember that not any liquid is good. Limit the consumption of sweet drinks to minimum. It is huge source of extra sugar what is one of the biggest issues nowadays in kids diet.

Good food is essential. Enjoy good food! Not the quantity but taste and balance are important. Ensure your kid has a balanced diet, has 5 portions of fruits and vegetables per day, eat 5 times per day, eat seasonal products, do not snack. Be a role model for your kid. Do not over-consume meat and fat. It is not difficult to get used to the lower level of salt. Ask from time to time your kids – what do they want for dinner. Cook with them from time to time. Enjoy family sitting dinners with no TV and no gadgets at the table.

Enough sleep and rest. Our kids are digital generation. The speed of learning, multitasking and amount of processing information increase dramatically every day. Wishing the best for our kids very often we push them for more studies. At the same time we are loosing control of their time in the digital reality. To develop healthily and happily our kids need enough sleep and enough rest. It is proven that any electronic gadgets in the kids’ room badly influence their sleep. Give them good alternatives. Let them sleep happily tired after the sport activities.

Love and discipline. Very often our kids are becoming a little “kings” of the family and parents are moving from one extreme of “everything what you want for your happiness” to the strict control. But little “kings” are never happy and loosing possibility to enjoy simple things in life what should bring the biggest pleasure. Unconditional parents love is essential for everybody. Yet discipline as well as the clear and consistent guidance and limitations make kids’ life easier. Only by understanding the limits they can develop further in right direction. Group sport activities and Gym Generation in particular are your best partners in this regard.
